Main policy priority
E-Cardio4patients is a telemonitoring system that involves the use of a cardiac resynchronization therapy defibrillator (CRT-D) in home remote monitoring (RM). The device is designed for patients suffering from chronic heart conditions or who have survived a cardiac arrest and are thus at risk of developing potentially life-threatening ventricular arrhythmias.
With the RM system, it is possible to monitor patients’ condition and to secure the follow-ups of their treatment adherence; RM provides the hospital with a continuous flow of information regarding the status of the device and clinical variables, transmitting the data to a centralized website which can be accessed by the clinical staff in a protected manner.
Beneficial effects on CRT-D in RM include the enhancement of patient safety and quality of life, lowering medical costs, and increase the patient’s therapeutic adherence, which is directly connected to the decrease in the rate of re-hospitalization and mortality.
The Twinning is focused on required staff skills to support how originator solutions could be transferred to the adopter’s context (organisational models, setting, process, and actual technology).
